Did you know? The World’s most expensive egg is The Third Imperial Egg created by the famous Peter Carl Faberge in 1887. Originally commissioned by Tsar Alexander III of Russia as an Easter gift for his wife, the egg was purchased in 2014 by London based jeweller, Wartski, on behalf of a private collector for a reported £20 million.

Impressive as that figure is, it is dwarfed by the number of eggs (hen’s not chocolate!) consumed in the UK annually. Industry estimates for 2015 have that number at 12.2 billion, which is equivalent to 33 million per day or 189 eggs per person per year!
